Kraiburg entrepreneur Peter Schmidt dies at 85

Peter Schmidt died in early February, a few weeks after his 85th birthday

Kraiburg Group is mourning the passing of highly esteemed shareholder Peter Schmidt. From 1954 to 1999 he participated actively in the company’s operations and as a member of the management board he implemented numerous decisions that shaped the company’s history.

In 1999 Peter Schmidt retired as an active member of the company and – like his younger brother and co-shareholder Fritz – entrusted his responsibilities at Kraiburg Holding to his daughter Daniela Schmidt-Kuttner, his nephew Fritz Schmidt and Ralph Westhoff. The company owners of the next generation took over the responsibilities in the individual Kraiburg divisions.

Peter Schmidt died in early February, a few weeks after his 85th birthday, at home in the circle of his family. In Waldkraiburg and at the numerous other Kraiburg locations he is remembered always as a generous patron of art, culture and sports.

The Kraiburg Group has 2,200 employees in nine strategic business units. Last year the group’s revenue totalled more than 500 million euros. In addition to traditional products such as rubber compounds and rubber for tyre retreading, the divisions of the group manufacture diverse products from rubber. Kraiburg has also developed to become a worldwide leading supplier in the area of Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE).
