Pirelli trialling all-season van tyre with selected UK fleet customers

Pirelli is currently trialling the latest tyre in its Carrier range of van tyres with certain UK fleets – and with its all-season performance characteristics, the fitment could be a good solution to keeping UK fleets on the road in the country’s inclement winter weather without the need for the downtime of a tyre change. The Carrier All Season is designed to work equally well throughout the year, and also benefits from Pirelli’s Seal Inside technology, further extending valuable mobility.

Seal Inside is Pirelli’s safety system against punctures; it automatically seals up the hole in the event of a puncture caused by an object up to 4mm in diameter, meaning that journeys can continue without loss of tyre pressure. The Carrier All Season also carries the snowflake symbol on the sidewall signifying it’s suitable for winter use in markets where legislation requires drivers to change to winter-specific rubber.

The Carrier tyre range has been developed by Pirelli specifically for the van market and has been tried and tested by a selection of fleet drivers in a variety of situations.

In addition to the new all-season model, the range includes the Carrier Winter for cold, wet months with the tread pattern and compound increasing low temperature and wet grip, and therefore safety in tougher conditions, as well as the summer version of the Carrier tyre for the months when temperatures are above seven degrees centigrade. All three tyres are available in a variety of sizes covering 14, 15 and 16-inch fitments.

Pirelli adds that it is tracking the evolution of the UK truck market with product developments driven by mileage and fuel economy factors. Pirelli Industrial states that it is responding with product development and support systems. The Pirelli Fleet Management online system has been added to its portfolio, providing fleet managers with a full support system, with the latest technology used to produce an online database with comprehensive details of every tyre’s status.
