New sand tyre completes Bridgestone’s Battlecross range

The Battlecross range now offers a tyre for conditions ranging from sand to hard terrain

Bridgestone has completed the roll-out of its new-generation MX line-up with the launch of the Battlecross X10 sand terrain tyre. The tyre features a new tread design that, together with increased block deformation, is said to give riders stronger traction, better self-cleaning and higher sideslip control in all types of sandy conditions. Bridgestone worked with top riders on the MX competition circuit when developing and testing the tyre, and comments that by deploying the new design in its mainstream Battlecross range, it “now makes higher performance on sandy tracks attainable for all riders, from national champions to intermediates and beginners.”

Block deformation is the factor that Bridgestone considers key to the X10 traction package. The new pattern, with its repositioned low-profile blocks, produces less longitudinal rigidity along the central block area. This lower rigidity allows greater block deformation during rotation, producing more edge effect in the sand. It also improves self-cleaning – adding more grip – as tyre flexing dislodges sand clogged in the tread void areas.

Compared to the M101/M102 predecessor tyres, Battlecross X10 shows significantly stronger traction in sandy conditions, with much improved rear grip and stability. The X10 now completes the new-generation Battlecross line-up and joins the X20 soft terrain tyre, the X30 for medium terrain and X40 for hard terrain. The Battlecross X10 will be available in Europe from April 2017, initially in front wheel size 80/100-21 and rear sizes 100/90-19 and 110/90-19.
