Michelin serves up Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2017

The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2017 is now out, and the latest edition includes 20 new Michelin-Starred restaurants across the country, as well as 24 new bib Gourmand entries. The guide sells for £16.99 (€18.99 in Ireland) and is also available as an iPhone and iOS app that includes a function for booking Michelin recommended restaurants online.

The latest guide features four restaurants with three Michelin Stars: Gordon Ramsay, Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, Waterside Inn and, regaining its three-star status, The Fat Duck, Heston Blumenthal’s podium-placed contender for Britain’s most expensive restaurant. Rebecca Burr, editor of The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland, welcomed The Fat Duck’s return: “Our inspectors had many meals here during the course of the year and found the restaurant invigorated, rejuvenated and unquestionably worthy of being re-awarded our highest accolade,” she commented.

A total of 21 two-star restaurants can also be found in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2017, including one new entry, Raby Hunt at Summerhouse, near Darlington. Eighteen new one Michelin Star restaurants, including two pubs and London’s oldest Indian restaurant, make their debut guide appearance, lifting the one-star total to 147 establishments.

The release of the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the Bib Gourmand – Michelin’s distinction for good value, good quality cooking. This year the guide includes more than 140 Bib Gourmand sites, of which 24 are new.

Those looking for top-notch grub in London will benefit from another new release, the Michelin Guide London 2017.
