Mobile tyre fitting specialist Tyres on the Drive has appointed Andy Murray as its chief operations officer. Murray has 22 years’ experience in managing and directing commercial operations for blue chip companies. Tyres on the Drive said he would strengthen the business’ functionality to ensure it is efficiently scalable as the organisation continues to grow.

Murray will also expand the company’s operational team, including its network of technicians across the country, its distribution centre in Birmingham and its call centre at Holmes Chapel.

Dominic Clark, founder and CEO of Tyres on the Drive, said: “Andy’s experience and instincts for improving the customer experience, increasing employee engagement and directing supply chains will be invaluable to us. He has a well-proven track record in this field, which will be crucial as we continue to grow across the UK.”

Murray joins from Dixons Carphone, where he was the programme director of the group’s operations process for its joint venture with Sprint USA. His previous experience also includes roles at Method Products, Kingfisher and Charles Worthington, after starting his career at Black and Decker as a graduate trainee.

Commenting on his new position, Murray said: “Tyres on the Drive is at a very exciting point in its growth. It’s showing the way forward for the motor maintenance industry, and I’m looking forward to being part of that.”

The company was recently named as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the north of England at the Northern Tech Awards.
