National Tyres and Autocare board approves leases for 10 new branches
National Tyres and Autocare will expand its network by 10 branches over the next year. Launching at the start of July, and projected to finish in early 2017, this expansion phase will include new branches in London, Yorkshire, Northamptonshire, South Wales and the South West. These branches will join the existing network of 241 branch locations operating throughout the UK. National added that 14 further sites are currently “in the pipeline”. The network is the UK’s third largest; the latest expansion will demonstrate its sharpest growth in locations for five years.
Alan Revie, chairman, commented: “Growing our market presence in new areas allows the business to grow and provides the foundation for continued investment. The strategic expansion of the National Tyres and Autocare network both organically and by acquisition remains the primary focus for the Group.”
National has recently purchased two independent tyre companies, demonstrating its intention to accelerate its acquisition strategy. National’s property director, Carlo Lamanuzzi is leading this strategy: “We are particularly interested in talking to existing tyre businesses, as well as looking for locations with main road development potential such as motor trade showrooms, former petrol filling stations, ex-retail showrooms, trade centres and industrial or warehouse units with strong roadside prominence.”
Sites with the potential for MOT testing facilities are of particular interest, National states, as this area of the market continues to show considerable growth potential.
“National is the largest, truly independent, fast fit retailer in the UK and it is this independence that gives us our unique position in the market and has been the key to our ongoing success,” Revie adds. “We have a winning formula which resonates with our existing loyal customers and we look forward to delivering this recipe to new customers, across a wider footprint of branches.”
