Laying a claim to being “one of the largest stockists of truck trailer and industrial wheels in the UK and Ireland”, Kirkby Tyres’ wheel department has full manufacturing facilities on site, enabling it to supply custom wheels too. Based in Liverpool and Dublin, Kirkby holds a large stock of steel and aluminium wheels for most applications, with popular sizes manufactured and tested to ETRTO and TÜV standards. It is also a major supplier of wheels for agricultural applications.
The distributor is the supplier of Accuride forged aluminium wheels to the European market, a brand that occupies top supply positions to American OEMs. The long established brand, manufactured in USA for over 40 years, is available in machined finish, polished finish and Accushield – an easy clean, wash-off, no-polish finish. In addition to Accuride’s forged aluminium and steel models, Kirkby also stocks steel wheels from the brands Maxion, Lemmerz, Mefro, Sudrad, Kronprinz, Jantsa, and Protector.
As well as the wide variety of brands, Kirkby is able to supply major sizes in many commercial applications. The distributer holds stock of steel wheels in diameters from 8-15” for industrial applications; 20”, 25” and 29” in earthmover; 17.5”, 19.5”, 22.5” and 24.5” in truck, light truck, low-loader, and trailer; and what the wholesaler describes as “possibly the widest range of agricultural wheels, rims and discs in the UK,” between 4” and 54”. Its agricultural wheel portfolio includes fitments for tractors – both fixed and adjustable, and made-to-measure – sprayers and row-crop – available as standard and made to measure fitments, with fixed disc or adjustable disc for self-propelled sprayers or trailed sprayers – flotation, and fixed and adjustable wheels for tractors. It also offers small implement and trailer wheels from 4” to 12”, and grassland and flotation conversions for turf growers, golf courses, contractors and so on.
Tony Rosenthal, general manager – OE, explains, “Kirkby can supply wheel to fit all the sizes of tyres in their extensive range to fit most machines. We can match special combinations of tyres and wheels to fill all types of machines.” Kirkby’s manufacturing capabilities cover all segments, with machining, welding, shotblasting and painting ovens facilities on site.
