Semperit extends high-mileage Runner commercial tyre range
The Semperit Runner commercial tyre range includes a Red Dot Award winner in the D2 drive tyre
Continental brand Semperit is introducing further additions to its Runner commercial tyre range, having launched the line in 2015. The steer-axle tyre, Runner F2 and the drive-axle tyre, Runner D2 which are for use in combined regional and long-distance transportation are now available in the size 315/70R22.5, joining the existing 315/80R22.5 model. The high-mileage tyres offer both a long service life and good fuel efficiency. The complete Runner range, which includes the trailer-axle tyre Runner T2, are on display at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2016 in Birmingham.
The tyre has a compact, void optimised tread pattern and rubber compounds designed for high mileage, the brand explains. “With the Runner family, Semperit is offering robust tyres that reliably deliver good performance mile after mile. These tyres will take you anywhere, from the freeway all the way to the mountains,” explains Daniel Gainza, marketing director truck tyres EMEA at Continental Reifen Deutschland GmbH.
The Runner range also has “intelligent sipe geometry,” Semperit adds, which improves its wet grip properties. The Runner D2 315/70R22.5 drive-axle tyre has both the M+S and Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) markings, while the Runner F2 315/70R22.5 bears the M+S symbol. The steer-axle tyre also offers a higher load rating, meeting the new requirements for Euro 6 vehicles. The reinforced bead allows both tyres to effectively withstand varying loads and their improved wear behaviour increases driving comfort.
A matching trailer tyre, the Runner T2, in size 385/65R22.5 will be launched officially in the summer, and is also on display at the CV Show 2016. Its wider tread delivers high mileage and the new composition of the rubber compound makes the trailer tyre more resistant to cuts. All Semperit Runner tyres are regroovable and can be retreaded.
Finally, the brand adds that the Semperit Runner D2 315/80R22.5 is already an award winner, recognised with a Red Dot Design Award 2016.
