Nokian Tyres extending use of aramid in tyre sidewalls
The inclusion of aramid fibres in the tyre’s sidewall strengthens it and allows the tyre to better withstand impacts and cuts
Finland’s Nokian Tyres reports it is increasing the use of its Aramid Sidewall Technology in Nokian SUV tyres. From the beginning of this year, nearly all such products – including ranges already on the market – will feature sidewalls containing aramid fibres.
Aramid Sidewall Technology was first utilised in the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 SUV studded tyre and is also a fundamental feature in the Nokian Line SUV summer tyre range. As of 2016, the following lines will be produced with aramid sidewalls:
