Euro-Tyre Venlo to close next summer

Well-known tyre wholesale Euro-Tyre is to close its Venlo distribution centre next summer. According to local news reports, storage and distribution of tyres will be moved to the firm’s German sister company Reifen Gundlach in Daufenbach and to Pon Logistics in Barneveld. The sales, purchasing, administration and the IT departments of Euro-Tyre will however remain in Venlo.

Euro-Tyre is owned by the Pon Tyre Group, which also owns Reifen Gundlach in Germany, Continental Tyre Group in the Netherlands and Amring in Sweden. According to Pon spokesman Jacques Geijsen, the move is part of an efficiency drive.

“We have now Barneveld, Venlo and Daufenbach three different stock locations and we go back to two locations. Geographically, this is the most logical choice. By adjusting the logistics network can PTG better respond to changing market conditions and can be Euro-Tyre hair offer customers a wider choice of tires, rims and complete wheel sets. The service level of deliveries is thus optimized. ”

According to the company’s website, some 450,000 tyres were stocked in Venlo. In addition to this site, Euro-Tyre also has branches in Spain and Portugal.
