Hankook introduces SmartControl DW07 drive axle tyre

A new “snow specialist” has been added to the Hankook truck tyre portfolio. The SmartControl DW07 drive axle winter tyre has been released in three key sizes – 315/80 R22.5, 315/70 R22.5 and 295/80 R22.5 – and Hankook Tire is preparing to expand the range with additional sizes.

The SmartControl DW07, says Hankook, was developed with “a focus on extreme winter conditions in European long-haul and distribution transport,” and the tyre maker shares that its tread design and compound have been “optimised and designed” to meet the requirements of demanding winter conditions such as Northern Europe or the Alpine region.

The DW07 has a tread that is eight per cent wider than the previous-generation model from Hankook, and is said to provide up to 25 per cent more traction on snow and up to 13 per cent more mileage on wintery roads. The tread pattern features five circumferential drainage grooves, while closely-set sipes and larger, pentagon-shaped tread blocks aim to facilitate even wear.

All currently-available SmartControl DW07 sizes are M+S and 3PMSF marked.
