Autoglym’s new wheel protector

Autoglym's Wheel Protector

Car care company Autoglym has launched its new Wheel Protector product which the company claims lasts up to 30 per cent longer than competitors.

The car cleaning experts have kept the research and development process under wraps working alongside Status Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi to test the coating in the most extreme conditions as well as Rimstock – the largest manufacturer of alloy wheels in Europe.

Called Autoglym Wheel Protector it lasts up to six weeks on wheels, repelling brake dust and dirt. The technology results in the wheels looking cleaner between washes and easier to clean and maintain.

Not merely a wheel sealant, Autoglym’s Wheel Protector has a new formulation which imparts a super hydrophobic film onto the wheel.

Under a microscope the film is uneven, making it difficult for dirt particles and water to stick to the surface.

No longer will brake dust and dirt be baked onto the actual wheel so it is far easier to maintain its shine.

When it rains or the wheel is hosed down, the water will bead and roll off the surface taking dirt particles away with it, so it’s easier to keep wheels clean.

Customers who have in the past found their intricate wheels difficult to clean will benefit from the Wheel Protector technology. The product greatly reduces the task of cleaning multi-spoke alloys, which is perfect for those who demand spotless wheels.

Paul Caller, chief executive of Autoglym, said: “Wheel Protector is ahead of anything of its type on the market. This has been long in the making and we are delighted with the finished product.

“Wheel Protector has been tested in the most extreme conditions with leading professionals Status Grand Prix and Rimstock as well as on day-to-day domestic vehicles.

“What it provides is assurance for customers of a part of the vehicle that can attract the most grime.

“It can offer protection for up to six weeks, which is longer than other protective sprays, and makes the task of cleaning your wheels a lot easier.

“This is an exciting product and something we are sure any person who cares about clean wheels will love.”

Wheel Protector will be on the market at £9.99 and be available from motor and car care retailers, including Halfords.
