Apollo Tyres ranked amongst India’s CSR leaders

Apollo Tyres says it is “a matter of great pride” for the company that it has been named the top automotive ancillary company and 24th overall in the ranking of corporate and social responsibility carried out by India’s leading business newspaper. Hailed as a ‘definitive listing’, The Economic Times’ ET Corporate Dossier, in cooperation with Futurescape and IIM Udaipu, has published its India’s Best Companies For CSR 2014.

The 100 companies are those considered to have the most comprehensive CSR packages. Firms were evaluated based on whether they have a CSR policy, if this is overseen by the company’s board, whether CSR information is reported, and if the CSR activities cover all stakeholders; the team evaluating companies for the list – Utkarsh Majmudar and Neeti from IIM Udaipur and Futurescape managing director Namrata Rana – assigned each respective criterion a weight of 20 per cent, 10 per cent, 50 per cent and 20 per cent.

Apollo Tyres is the only tyre maker to appear in the India’s Best Companies For CSR 2014 list.
