Camoplast Solideal increases industrial footprint with Brazil acquisition

Off-road tyre, wheel and track specialist Camoplast Solideal Inc. has acquired Brazilian industrial tyre manufacturer Rodaco. With this purchase, Camoplast Solideal says it has improved its capacity to manufacture and distribute tyres for the material handling industry in South America.

“Having a physical presence in Latin America is an important component to achieving our global growth objectives in material handling,” says Francois Augnet, chief operating officer – Construction and Material Handling at Camoplast Solideal. “By combining our manufacturing and distribution processes with the local knowledge and reputation of the team at Rodaco, we will have a unique offering to best serve this growing market.”

Solideal Mexico managing director Miguel Ferrer adds: “With this acquisition, Camoplast Solideal reinforces its position as a strong player, with a significant (marketshare) for materials handling tyres (and) a strong presence in construction tyres…in the key Latin American markets. According to Ferrer, the 100-strong Rodaco workforce will remain with the company and will continue to “help build a bigger, better business.”

Rodaco was founded in 1997. It operates manufacturing facilities in Porto Alegre and Buenos Aires, as well as a distribution centre in São Paulo.
