Nankang Tyre Drift Team smokes the round 3 competition

The Nankang Tyre Drift Team claimed first place at the British Drifting Championship Team Constructors event at the season’s third round, which was held in Teeside on 20 July 2014 in what turned out to be a very mixed bag of weather throughout the weekend.

The team consisting of Super Pro drivers Mark Luney in the 1100bhp Toyota Supra, David Waterworth in the V10 Viper powered Nissan S15 and Wesley Keating in the SR20 powered rocket bunny S13 scored a respectable 50 points which now puts them in second place overall in the Team Standings.

Team driver David Waterworth said: “It was a round of mixed feelings due to weather and changeable track conditions which had us playing around with car settings to get it right for the brutal torque the Viper V10 puts out, the Nankang NS-2R kept us in check allowing me to finish the Super Pro battles in fourth place overall narrowly missing a podium place”

The solo competitions also saw Pro driver Dan Firmager finish the day on the podium in third place sitting him in second place overall in the Pro championship standings, as well as Nankang backed driver Steven Donnelley securing a first place podium finish in the Semi-Pro event also leaving him in second place in the Semi-Pro championship standings.

The next round is at the well known Lydden Hill Race Circuit in Kent on 9-10 August, with the team looking to continue the winning streak further at one of the driver’s favourite tracks.
