Toyo Tires has become the latest tyre manufacturer to join TyreSafe. The manufacturer said that it would campaign alongside TyreSafe’s other members from a wide variety of sectors, including councils and insurers as well as companies within the tyre industry, to help raise awareness about the dangers associated with illegal and defective tyres. The manufacturer added that it would seek to enhance its tyre safety message with TyreSafe’s help.

Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe, said: “Safety already plays a key part of Toyo offering with detailed care and safety advice for drivers on its website. Now that it’s joined TyreSafe, we will be able to work closely together and offer even more education to its customers, further spreading the tyre safety message.”

He added: “Toyo Tires will celebrate its 75th anniversary next year so it’s fantastic to have another prominent and long standing member of the tyre industry on board.”

Sarah Clavey, marketing manager, Toyo Tires said: “We’re delighted to be joining TyreSafe at such an exciting time. We hope we’ll be able to further enhance and promote our tyre safety message with their expertise and help our customers to understand the importance of proper tyre maintenance.”

Toyo will support the comprehensive campaigns that TyreSafe has planned for 2014. These include those targeting motorcyclists, young drivers, HGVs as well as October’s Tyre Safety Month, which this year will focus on tread depth.

Now in its eighth year of campaigning, TyreSafe says its 2013 Tyre Safety Month campaign was its biggest and most successful to date, with record levels of engagement and participation. It also launched its inaugural TyreSafe Awards, which celebrated the activities and achievements of a wide range of organisations in encouraging better tyre care and maintenance.
